I heard Asylum was planning a sequel to their movie 2012: Doomsday. I didn’t know any details, nor did I watch the first movie, butit struck me as kind of funny Asylum would do a sequel to a movie in which the world has already ended.
So anyway, I was poking on their web site a few days ago and again today, and I just noticed this –http://www.theasylum.cc/product.php?id=161 I swear it was not there a couple days ago. This movie 2012: Supernova, doesn’t look like a sequel, so perhaps I was wrong about there being a sequel to 2012: Doomsday, it’s just another 2012 / apocolypse movie.
Still, imagine any other movie studio. Yes, sometimes you see two similar movies coming out around the same time. Not to get stuck on the disaster theme, but a made for TV movie Asteroid came out in 1997 and Deep Impact was released as a theatrical release in 1998. But these are competing studios. Wouldn’t Asylum be worried about cannibalizing their other 2012 movie by flooding the market with so many end of the world movies called 2012. I guess not!
