Anyway, I’m not sure how we would know if the world started ending it a different time zone, as we wouldn’t be able to contact those people.

I would say wait an extra few days to make sure we know that the whole world really hasn’t ended at all.

An anonymous reader writes “Japanese scientists have spotted [0]two huge
holes on the sun’s magnetic field, and it appears there is some reason to
be concerned about. The holes, called coronal holes, are gateways for
solar material and gas to spill out into space, according to space.com.
The gaps in the sun’s magnetic field make a hole through its atmosphere,
letting gas out, NASA has said.”

According to Box Office Mojo – http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=2012.htm it did about $155M domestically and rather better in the worldwide release – almost $700M. As would be expected I suppose for a movie with worldwide repercussions.

Too bad. Roland Emmerich’s other films were kind of epic and interesting, but apparently this one did not make the grade. I’ll still go see it eventually, or maybe wait until it’s on DVD and will probably enjoy it. But the length of the movie is a little troublesome. I always prefer a 90 minute movie. Still, John Cusack is always entertaining to watch, and you can’t go wrong with Woody!

I didn’t know any details, nor did I watch the first movie, butit struck me as kind of funny Asylum would do a sequel to a movie in which the world has already ended.

So anyway, I was poking on their web site a few days ago and again today, and I just noticed this –http://www.theasylum.cc/product.php?id=161 I swear it was not there a couple days ago. This movie 2012: Supernova, doesn’t look like a sequel, so perhaps I was wrong about there being a sequel to 2012: Doomsday, it’s just another 2012 / apocolypse movie.

Still, imagine any other movie studio. Yes, sometimes you see two similar movies coming out around the same time. Not to get stuck on the disaster theme, but a made for TV movie Asteroid came out in 1997 and Deep Impact was released as a theatrical release in 1998. But these are competing studios. Wouldn’t Asylum be worried about cannibalizing their other 2012 movie by flooding the market with so many end of the world movies called 2012. I guess not!
